Yes, it’s also on my list: Dulce de Leche. You’ve probably already heard from this amazing coffee spot. I think every blogger that visited Valencia has already written about it. I am also writing about it, because it’s definitely worth it. But, if you don’t want to be surrounded by tourists it isn’t worth it. It definitely depends what kind of spots you are looking for.
Dulce de Leche is a great spot for breakfast, lunch, cake and coffee in the trendiest neighbourhood of Valencia: Ruzafa. When you walk in, you will directly notice the thing that made them famous: the dozens of different home-made cakes and pies. The display cases are overfilled with them! From Oreo-cheesecakes to colorful fruit pies, muffins with dulce de leche topping and chocolate cake. It’s all delicious, but for me the white-chocolate cake with dulce de leche is the best.
If you don’t feel like eating cake, Dulce de Leche is also a great spot for breakfast and lunch. They have home-made quiches and fresh sandwiches with hummus, avocado, sundried tomatoes, cream cheese and turkey breast. If you only want to drink something, you can choose freshly made juices, the typical Valencian horchata and delicious coffee. Tip: would a cappuccino with a piece of cake be too much for you? Order a ‘café con leche’. At Dulce de Leche this is the same as a cappuccino, only in a smaller size.
Despite that it’s always crowded at Dulce de Leche, the staff is always friendly. There is a lot of space both inside and outside, but if you visit Dulce de Leche during the weekend, you may have a waiting line till outside. It’s therefore recommendable to visit this coffee spot on a weekday.
Enjoy and good luck making a choice between those delicious cakes and pies!
Love,
Sofie
